The European Parlament has finally adopterd a legislation that set targets for airline in Europe to increase their use of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
The new legislation demands fuel suppliers to ensure that 2% of fuel made available at EU airports is SAF in 2025, rising to 6% in 2030, 20% in 2035 and gradually up to 70% in 2050.
With Eco-Oil's 100% synthetic aviation fuel AERO+, fuel suppliers are able to fulfill the 2050 target already today - with the limitation that airlines are not yet allowed to blend in more than 50% SAF in the regular fossil aviation fuel (kerosene).
